The Benefits of Taking Your Time with Webtoon Updates

Hey everyone! If you’re a creator on Webtoon Canva, you may be wondering how often you should be updating your webtoon. Personally, I think it’s important to find a schedule that works for you and is sustainable in the long run. It’s not worth it to burn yourself out trying to meet a certain update frequency if it’s not realistic for you.

That being said, some platforms like LINE Webtoon recommend posting full, quality episodes on a weekly basis rather than shorter, incomplete episodes daily. It’s all about finding a balance between quantity and quality.

In my experience, I’ve found that updating my webtoon once a month works best for me. It allows me to approach my story at a steadier pace and gives me time to really think things through and draw at a comfortable speed. Plus, when the process is enjoyable for me, I never want it to end and I can keep creating all the different stories in my head.

Here are a list of some of the benefits that I enjoy now that I take my time with my webtoon updates (FYI this is just my own personal experience, yours may be different and that’s okay:

  1. Allows for a steadier, clearer pace of storytelling
    • (When I’m rushed my brain feels foggy and jumbled)
  2. Prevents burnout and promotes mental and physical well-being
    • (Going at a slower pace helps me to better balance work life and mom duties~)
  3. Gives time for quality control and improvements
    • (I’m actually able to have time to enjoy adding random highlights or details if I feel like it because I’m not on a time crunch and it’s fun)
  4. Allows for more creative freedom and flexibility
    • (I’m an emotional artist so when I feel under pressure my creativity gets effected and drained)
  5. Can make the creative process more enjoyable and sustainable
    • (This is big for me because it’s what helps me overcome artist block. I get artist block because I don’t enjoy the process so I freeze up so when I allow myself to have a creation process that excites me and makes me happy it makes it more sustainable for me to keep staying motivated to draw~)
  6. Can lead to a larger, more dedicated fan base in the long run.
    • (When I posted a lot weekly I used to get comments in the past where people said they had to catch up with the story or they felt overwhelmed by all that they had to read so for me personally having monthly updates fits my and my targeted audience preference better)

As for the impact on subscribers and views, I haven’t noticed a significant difference between my weekly-updating webcomic and my monthly-updating webtoon. Of course, every creator’s experience will be different, so it’s important to experiment and see what works best for you.
