It’s nice to have a circle of support for those that want to rock their curly texture or those that want to keep it relaxed and straight. Just as long as you’re happy and healthy, do what you got to do <3
D: -rolls around- omg I hate when family says that!
When i first went natural, my mom said some pretty hurtful things that made me consider relaxing my hair again. She always called my hair ‘A Sheep’s ass” or “Brillopad” or whatever else. And it really did hurt my feelings because i expect that from other people; not my mom.
After telling mom that it really hurt me when she said that, she stopped. She occasionally does it and I have to say ‘momma come on. i don’t wanna hear that. You know that hurts me…” that’ll chill out.
I hope we have a nice little ending from this rollercoaster!!!! Or Oriana atleast gets more of her mixture and gives the girls beautifully moisturized hair~ >u<
Family can usually be the ones that can hurt you the most with their words and they might not even realize it but I think it’s great that you were open and honest so that she could see that what she was saying was hurtful because sometimes people just don’t know.
I need to start coming up with my own little magical detangling mixture for my little girls curls. When her hair gets tangled up, it gets really matted and is a battle to get back detangled but I shall find a way XD
Gosh, I know the feeling. For years I went thru relaxing my hair to death. I had to get it cut multiple times. And it use to hurt whenever people told me my curly hair was nappy. I’ve just got to the point where I’ve been able to embrace my hair
You know what hurts the most? It’s when your OWN people say your curly hair is ugly and needs a perm (pressed or whatever!). Good hair versus Bad hair? Please, give me a break. I rather live true to myself than carry on the slave mentality. Now that’s whats up…( Haaa, I sounded cool there for a minute, eh?)
Don’t worry Ayisha XD I try my best to get hip to the ling that people are using now and days and I end up using an old school word by accident XD but you are right, it is so hurtful to have your own people down play the beautiful hair that they’ve been blessed with. I hope that we all will be able to accept the fact that all of our hair textures are unique ans special and beautifully awesome!
I’m glad all the ladies in my family are natural.
