My Personal Experience on Webtoon Canvas: A Creator’s Perspective on Publishing and Engagement

I saw a really good question online that had asked “How was my publishing experience on Webtoon Canvas?”

Since the question was a little bit general and I wasn’t sure if they were looking for insights into the pros and cons, specific challenges, or overall satisfaction with the platform, I figured I could just share an overview of my personal experience using Webtoon Canvas.

Disclaimer: Please keep in mind that my experience will differ from others experience since this isn’t a one size fits all but I hope this information helps!

My publishing experience on Webtoon Canvas has been quite positive overall.

Here’s a breakdown of my experience:

Pros:

  • High Readership and Engagement: Among all platforms where I’ve posted, Webtoon Canvas has provided the best visibility and reader engagement. For instance, being featured during Black History Month significantly boosted my readership.

  • Free and Versatile Publishing: The platform allows free publishing for everyone. You can upload webcomics in the traditional manga style or the standard webtoon format, and both styles are easily readable on the platform.

Cons:

  • Limited Analytics: One of the major downsides is the lack of comprehensive analytics. It’s challenging to track reader comments without manually checking each one, as notifications can be unreliable.
  • Publishing Process Confusion: The publishing process, especially on mobile devices, can be confusing. Many users don’t realize they need to switch to the desktop version of the site to access the publishing features.

To help others, I wrote a detailed blog post about how to upload to Webtoon Canvas from a mobile device. You can find a video demonstration of it here: How to Upload to Webtoon from Mobile.

Overall, despite a few drawbacks, I find the platform user-friendly and effective for reaching a wide audience. With some improvements in the analytics and notification system, it could become even better.
