As a beginner digital artist, creating and publishing webtoon comics can be both exciting and overwhelming. One of the most common questions or pain points for many artists is how to gain subscribers quickly.
The quick answer to that question is to use hashtags or keywords and make sure to share on social media platforms. However, the harsh reality is that sometimes this doesn’t always result in large numbers of subscribers quickly, and you may only gain a handful of subscribers each day.
If you’re like me, you may not like to pay for views on social media using paid ads and prefer to use organic methods to market your webtoon comics and gain subscribers for free. One way to do this is by using SEO on social media or search engine platforms. With SEO, you can reach your target audience and potentially end up with new subscribers.
This is the method that helped me reach the the amount of subscribers that my Webtoon Catch Me! Fight Me! Love Me! has.
One of the most important things to keep in mind when using hashtags is to make sure they are relevant to your audience or story genre. Using a hashtag about a horror comic when your comic has no horror in it will cause your content not to match and the algorithm won’t push your content in that hashtag. It’s important to keep in mind that social media platforms use hashtags to sort through all of the content and want to get content out to more people.
To keep things in order and avoid traffic jams of mismatched content, social media platforms show people the content that you might have tagged with a certain hashtag that they typed in the search bar. But, if that hashtag doesn’t match what they searched for, they’ll pass it over, and that’s a sign to the algorithm that this piece of content isn’t pairing well.
Consistency and relevancy are key when it comes to hashtags, and if you stay consistent, you’ll get the results you’re hoping for. I’ve been working on making sure to use hashtags and making sure they are relative to my audience and what I’m posting, and so far, it has been working well on my Instagram account.
One final tip is to use TikTok and other social media platforms to market your webtoon comic. Other webtoon artists seem to have blown up overnight, and the secret is consistency and using these platforms to reach a wider audience.

In conclusion, gaining webtoon comic subscribers for free is possible by using SEO and hashtags on social media platforms, staying consistent, and making sure the hashtags you use are relevant to your audience or story genre. By following these tips, it helped me to increase my chances of reaching a wider audience and gaining new subscribers and I hope these can help you too.
